1933 graduated Medical Faculty, Yerevan University.
1937-1952 Head, Chuir of Organic Chemistry, Yerevan Medicine Institute, and simultaneously Yerevan University. 1953-1960 V.-President, Armenian Academy of Sciences. 1942 founded Laboratory for the Development and Introduction of Military Medicine Drugs, reorganized in 1945 into Chemico-Pharmacological Laboratory, and in 1955 into Institute of Fine Organic Chemistry, Armenian Academy of Sciences.
Main research connected with pharmceutical chemistry, synthesis of organic substances and study of the relation between their biological activity and chemical structure. 1959 member, Editor Board, journal “Doklady Academy of Sciences Armyanskoy Soviet Socialist Republic” (Reports of the Armenian Academy of Sciences). Publ. author of over 140 w'orks, including “Issledovaniya v oblasti sinteza novykh anesteziruyushchikh veshchestv” (Research on Synthesis of New Anesthetic Substances) (1946).
Coauthor “Issledovaniya v oblasti proizvodnykh zameshchennykh uksusnykh kislot” (Research on Derivations of Substituted Acetic Acids) (1955). “Sintezy geterotsiklicheskikh soedineniy”(Synthesis of Heterocyclic Compounds) (4 edition, 1956-1959). Coauthor, “Sintez ditilina i nekotorykh yego analogov” (Synthesis of Ditiline and Several of its Analogues) (1957).
“Sintez ganglerona: nekotorykh yego analogov” (Synthesis of Ganglerone and Some of its Analogues) (1959). “Issledovaniya v oblasti aminov i ikh analogov” (Research on Amines and their Derivations) (1959), etc.
