Hollmen, Arno Ilmari was born on November 19, 1930 in Helsinki. Son of Aarne Johannes and Wilma Maria (Karlstrom) Hollmen.


Doctor of Medicine, University Turku, 1956. Doctor of Philosophy, University Helsinki, 1968.


Resident anesthesiology University Copenhagen, 1959-1960. Chairman department anesthesiology Kuopio Center Hospital, Finland, 1963-1965, Oulu County Hospital, Finland, 1965-1972. Professor, chairman department Oulu University, 1974-1992, senior lecturer department anesthesiology, since 1993.

Visiting professor Stanford (California) University, 1970-1971, University of California at Los Angeles, 1975-1976, Columbia University, New York City, 1983, 85, University Texas, San Antonio, 1985-1986, clinical professor, 1986-1994. Executive member European Committee Allied Special Maternal and Neonatal Care, since 1979.
