Christ’s Hospital, Ipswich. Trained as journalist under his father. Proceeded to India tri take up appointment on Times of India, 1879.
Served till 1887, acting frequently as special correspondent at important functions in various parts of India. Proceeded to Australia, 1887. Was there engaged as Private Secretary by the tirst Lady Brassey.
Was on board the Sunbeam when Lady Brassey died. Subsequently, at Lady Brassey’s dying request, assisted in the production of The Last Voyage, her posthumous work. Returned to England in the Sunbeam.
London editor of the Yorkshire Post, 1888-1900. Founded the London Argus, 1897. Proceeded Ceylon, 1906, to complete Twentieth Century Impressions of Ceylon. Author; editor, publications of Lloyd’s Greater Britain Publishing Company, Ltd.
