Graduate, Minor Seminary of Villiers-le-Secretary, 1886-1894, Major Seminary of Sommervieu, 1894-1896, Novitiate of Oblate Fathers, Angers, 1896-1897, Major Seminary of Oblate Fathers, Liege, Belgium, 1897-1900.

Career

Ordained priest R.C. Church, December 23, 1899. Missionary to Eskimos, Northern Canada, 1900-1943, Reindeer Lake Indian Mission, Northern Saskatchewan, 1900, with Eskimos in N.W. territories, 1901. Founded 1st Eskimo mission, Chesterfield Inlet, Hudson Bay, 1912.

Established 13 mission-posts, erected 1 hospital. Appointed Prefect Apostolic for Hudson Bay, 1924, Vicar Apostolic, 1931. Consecrated bishop, 1932. Retired, 1943.
