Dr. Bensusan earned Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from Rand School of Social Sciences in 1950.
He was a director of photography at the Medical School in Johannesburg. He also founded and chairs the Bensusan Museum of Photography in Johannesburg and he founded Camera Pictorialists in that city as well. He was a past mayor of Johannesburg and has been a city councillor for sixteen years.
His films include Open Heart Surgery, Decompression Suit, Die Stem van S.A., Thatch Reflection Phenomenon, Rotary Afloat, and New Legs (done approximately 1958-1964).
