Arthur Wolfe Chimley

Arthur Wolfe was born on May 4, 1837, in Wicklow, Ireland. Son of Reverend Francis Chomley, Rural Dean of Wicklow, and Mary Elizabeth Griffith.

Education

Studied at Doctor Delamere’s School, Holywell.

Career

Went to Victoria, 1849. Called to Bar, 1863; Secretary to Law Department, Victoria, 1860-1870. Crown Prosecutor, 85. Acting Judge of Supreme Court, Victoria, May to December 1906. County Court Judge, Victoria, since 1885.

Achievements

• Assistant Crown Prosecutor and part of the team that prosecuted Ned Kelly at his trial in October 1880
