Arthur Freiherr von Huebl attended military academy and Vienna University of Technology.
First serving as an artillery officer, then as chemist of the artillery arsenal, Arthur Freiherr von Huebl went on to become director of the technical group in the Royal Military Geographical Institute in Vienna. He was responsible for the development of photogrammetry and stereophotogrammetry for map-making and topography, publishing numerous articles on the subject. His photographic inventions included work on the platinotype process and photomechanical reproduction (late 1890s), invention of the multiple gum printing process (1898), improvements on Thomas Manly's pigmented gelatin process, Ozotype (1903), and work on light filters (1921).
Among the many honors Arthur Freiherr von Huebl received were honorary membership in the Royal Photographic Society of Camera and Photographic Clubs of Vienna, RPS and the Photographic Society of Florence.
