He received an early architectural training in the Boston office of Cabot, Everett & Mead. Later he worked three years for Shepley, Rutan & Coolidge.
In 1910 Mr. French joined Franklin H. Hutchins in forming a partnership, and during the rest of his life carried on a large and successful practice under the firm name. He was co-architect of varied type buildings, the most important of which were the Public Library at Kennebunkport, Maine; Amoskeag Savings Bank at Manchester, N.H. 1913, Manufacturers National Bank Building at Nashua, N.H.; High School, Kennebunk, Maine; Mary Hunt Home for Aged Women, Nashua, N.H. 1924; Black Point Inn, Prout's Neck, Maine, 1924; First National Bank Building at New Bedford, Mass., 1924; Centreville Savings Bank, Warwick, R.I„ 1927; National Bank, Keene, N. H. and Masonic Temple, North Attleboro, Mass.
