This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. Studied at Grammar School, Truro, Cornwall. Won scholarship for singing, and some time head chorister Truro Cathedral.
Career
Came to London in 1885. Began journalistic work, 1893, as a “free lance,” principally interview-work, including illustrated interviews with Mission Marie Corelli and the late Sir Arthur Sullivan for the Strand Magazine. Short time with Mr. Jerome on To-Day.
Edited The Idler (with South. H. Sime as art editor), and Director Idler Publishing Company, from March 1899 to February 1900.
Contributed series of essays to Saint James’s Gazette. Edited first numbers Masonic Illustrated, 1900.
Daily Mail Lobby representative, 1901, simultaneously acting editor New Liberal Review. Subsequently assistant editor Daily Chronicle.
Joined West. World War II Smith & Son’s Advertising Agency, 1910.
