Darling, Arthur Beebe was born on December 19, 1873 in Waterville, New York, United States. Son of Josiah Cook and Frances Lamercia (Beebe) Darling.


Graduate Cazenovia (New York) Seminary, 1891. Bachelor of Arts, Wesleyan University, Connecticut, 1895. A.M., Harvard, 1901.


Teacher, Cazenovia (New York) Seminary and Centenary Collegiate Institute, Hackettstown, New Jersey, until 1903. Assistant cashier Redfield (South Dakot) National Bank, 1904-1907. Farm loan business, Redfield, 1907-1913.

Vice president Western National Bank, Mitchell, South Dakot, 1913-1918, also secretary South Dakot Bankers’ Association, 1915-1918. Vice president Security National Bank, Sioux City, Iowa, 1918-1923, president 1923-1928. Vice-president and chairman of the executive committee Toy National Bank, Vice-President Farmers Loan & Trust Company, 1928-1933.

Trustee operating Central West Public Service Company, 1934-1939. Broker, Los Angeles, 1939-1940. Was on Executive Committee American Red Cross and Liberty Loan Drives, and as four-minute manitoba Ex-president Sioux City Chamber Commerce, Sioux City Clearing House Association.
