Walworth, Arthur Clarence was born on July 9, 1903 in Newton, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Arthur Clarence and Ruth Richardson (Lippincott) Walworth.

Education

Graduate, Phillips Andover Academy, 1921;Bachelor, Yale University, 1925.

Career

He also wrote about China and Japan. He taught at the Yali School of Changsha in 1925 and was a Senior Bachelor of the Yale's China group. In 1966 he wrote a book on Commodore Matthew Perry's expedition.

He died in Needham, Massachusetts.

Achievements

  • He won the 1959 Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography for Woodrow Wilson, Volume I: American Prophet.
