Middleton, Arthur D. was born on November 28, 1880 in Logan, Iowa, United States. Son of Wiley and Julia Ann (Lockling) Middleton.
Graduated from the high school, Missouri Valley, Iowa, 1899. Student Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, 6 years, specializing in music and literature. Honorary Doctor of Music from Simpson College.
Became assistant vocal instructor in college after 1 year there, and toured middle west in concert and oratorio. Teacher of voice, Des Moines Music College, 1905-1906, Chicago Music College, 1906-1911. Joined Metropolitan Opera Company, New York, 1914, appearing 35 times first season.
Has sung with Apollo Club, Chicago. Handel and Haydn Society, Boston. Denver Choral Association.
St. Paul Orchestra; Syracuse Festival. New York Symphony Orchestra. Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, etc.
