COURTENAY, Arthur H. was born on October 16, 1852. Son of late Thomas Lefroy Courtenay, Justice of the Peace, of Grange, Company Antrim, and 14Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin, and Jane Caroline, daughter of late Martin Morris, Justice of the Peace of Spiddal, Company Galway, and sister of late Lord Morris and Killanin.
Career
Colonel Dublin. Called to Irish Bar. Appointed Master of the Common Pleas in Ireland, 1883. Appointed Lieutenant 2nd Royal Lanark Militia, 1871.
Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel and Honourable Colonel 4th Battalion the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), 1891.
And Colonel Commandant 3rd and 4th Batts. Scottish Rifles, 1895.
Served with 4th Battalion Scottish Rifles in South African Campaign, 1900-1901. Commandant of _Boshof, Orange River Colony, from May 1900 to May 1901, including investment of that place (despatches, medal and three clasps, Companion of the Bath).
Doctorate.L. Lanarkshire; Justice of the Peace Company Galway.
High Sheriff", 18S7 and 1909. Decorated for South African Campaign. Late Lieutenant-Colonel Commandant and Honourable Colonel 3rd and 4th Battalions the Cameronians (Scottish Rilles).
