Career
Entered diplomatic service, 1879. Has been Secretary at His (or Her) Majesty’s Embassies at Saint St. Petersburg and Washington, and to Legations at Buenos Ayres, Tehran, Brussels, Berne, Stockholm. Was attached to Sir Peter Lumsden’s mission for demarcation of Afghan frontier, 1884-1885.
Received allowance for knowledge of Russian and Persian.
Secretary of Legation, Copenhagen, 1901. Consul-General Buda-Pesth, 1902.
Charge d’Affaires Darmstadt and Carlsruhe, 1903-1905.
