Came to the United States, 1887. Began newspaper work on Brooklyn Standard Union, 1889, later special writer for various New York newspapers. With Brooklyn Daily Eagle from 1893, successively exchange editor, editorial writer, managing editor, and editor-in-chief from 1915, now emeritus.
Member of board of managers, vice president Brooklyn Association for Improving Condition of the Poor. Member of advisory board Columbia University School of Jouralism. Member of New York City Board of Higher Education, 1926-1938.
Member Mayor Louisiana Guardia’s Commision on Education, 1940.
