Asadayu Tsuruga (his real name was Momotaro Takamiya) was born on January 1, 1912 Tokyo, Japan.
Asadayu Tsuruga studied shinnai from an early age, first under his mother, later under Issei Hanazono, and later under Kincho Tsuruga. After the Kanto earthquake in 1923, he went to Osaka and studied under a blindman, Rogyoku Tsuruga.
Representative works of Asadayu Tsuruga are Botandöro,Kasanegafuchi and "Last Snow of Yosaburo." He has also composed more than 250 tunes, including "Hiroshige's Eight Scenes," for dancing. Moreover Tsuruga translated an English transcription Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" and several other famous works.
