Asao Sugimoto was born in Aomori Prefecture in 1911.
He graduated from Tokyo University (1933).
Upon graduating from Tokyo University (1933), he became assistant at the Rigaku (Physics and Chemistry) Research Institute, and then assistant researcher of the Science Research Institute.
Asao Sugimoto published many theses on beta ray, the degree and rank of the nucleus of magnetism and other branches of nuclear physics. He received a doctorate (1948).
As chairman of the Atomic Furnace Designing Subcommittee of the Japan Scientific Development Council (1955), he took an active part in the nation' s planning for the harnessing of atomic energy by doing theoretical calculation for designing and manufacturing of atomic furnace.
