Ashley was born on March 5, 1975 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Education

Ashley Frank completed his primary and high school education at the Apartheid-era Surat Hindoo and Gandhi Desai schools (now closed) in Durban, completing the National Senior Certificate in science in 1992. He was involved in debate, drama and dancesport at school. He studied economics at university, obtaining his Bachelorgrad, in 2005, at the University of Copenhagen, where he was involved in the Christian student's social justice society. He obtained his MBA at Buckinghamshire New University in 2009. There he was part of the University's canoeing team, regularly kayaking the River Tess. He subsequently completed his MCom in Investment Finance (summa cum laude) (2001) and then DCom in Financial Markets (2004) at the University of South Africa. Later, seeking to make a change in his career trajectory, he studied executive coaching at Coaching and Leadership International in Vancouver, Canada, the home of the highly regarded Mind-Kinetics method of enhancing human potential. In 2007, in preparation for a Fellowship in Leadership Practice, he completed Cornell University's Executive Leaders Program, in New York. He obtained his Fellowship with an emphasis on working with senior management, at Australia's Graduate School of Leadership, in Sydney (2018).

Career

In 1999 Ashley Frank began his career working as an analyst in corporate finance advisory at JP Morgan Chase & Co. in London. In 2000 he worked as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Bedfordshire in Luton, holding this position until 2002. In 2003 Ashley became Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal's, Graduate School of Business in Westville. He held this position until 2006. From 2007 to 2008 he was a Postdoctoral Onderzoeker in Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen in Brussel, Belgium. Returning to South Africa, Ashley worked as an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business, holding that position until 2010. From 2010 to 2013 he served as Professor of Finance at North-West University in Mafikeng. Since 2018 he works as a Principal Executive Coach in Ascent Coaching Ltd. in Sandton, South Africa. Here he serves as an Executive Coach to South Africa's largest corporations, In 2019 he joined the international consulting firm BTG, from where he undertakes significant management consultancy projects internationally.
