He was educated at the Master Tutorial High School, Mumbai, and obtained his B.Sc degree from the Jaihind College, Mumbai. He completed his M.S in 1959 and Doctor of Philosophy in 1961 from the University of Illinois Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
His term ends on 17 November 2015. Much of Doctor Ganguly"s working life has been with Unilever Public Limited Company, where he spent over 35 years. Doctor Ganguly has held board level positions with various other multinationals, including Hindustan Lever, Imperial Chemical Industries India, British Airways, Wipro, Tata American International Group Life Insurance Company, Hemogenomics, and Firstsource Solutions.
