He is a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party. He has served as mayor of Jaipur. In 2006, Parnami was involved in the Deendayal Upadhyaya Trust land scam.
While he was mayor of Jaipur, a large plot of prime land was allotted at extremely concessional rates to a trust which was yet to be registered.
Normally such concessional grants require that the body have done good work for at least three years. As per his election declarations, Parnami"s assets went from Rs 3.66 crore in 2008 to Rs 26.61 crore in 2013.
According to the survey by the Association for Democratic Reforms, this seven-fold rise in wealth (+627%) over five years was the highest among elected politicians in Rajasthan.
