Asok Kumar Hiranandani, the co-founder of erstwhile Royal Brothers property group, separated from his elder brother Raj Kumar in 2011 after dividing their property empire. The asset swap deal involved properties worth an estimated $1.4 billion. His assets now housed in privately owned Royal Group Holdings. It is building a new corporate headquarters and a 135- room Sofitel So Hotel, due to open 2013. Projects overseen by son Bobby, whom he's grooming to be his successor.
Noted for his numerous business acquisitions and for building conglomerates, Asok Kumar Hiranandani is chairman of Royal Brothers Group and StayWell Hospitality Group, the largest privately-held hotel chain that owns and operates its own assets. His newest project is the historical conservation hotel site at the junction at Robinson Road and Boon Tat Street.
