Studied at Dover College. Sandhurst.
Served three and a half years in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, and one and a half years in the 110th Maliratta Light Infantry. Has been serving as Assistant Commissioner in the Punjab Commission, both in the North-west frontier districts and in the Punjab, since 1896. Has officiated as District Judge and as Deputy Commissioner.
Was Officiating Deputy Commissioner of Kangra after the great earthquake of 4 April 1905 (Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire). Deputy Commissioner in the Punjab Commission.
