Background
TREVOR-BATTYE, Aubyn Bernard Rochfort was born in Hever. 2nd son of late Reverend William Wilberforce Battye, of Tingrith Manor, Bedfordshire, and Little Hampden, Buckinghamshire, Rector of Hever, and Harriet Dorothea, daughter of Edmund Wakefield MeadeWaldo, of Stonewall Park and Hever Castle.
Education
Studied at Saint Edward’s School, Oxford. Christ Church, Oxford. Studied Natural Science under Professor H. North. Moseley of the “Challenger.” Originally a writer to the Saturday Review, and engaged in literature and scientific writing, he has for several years travelled in various countries: NorthWest America, North Africa, Arctic Russia, Spitsbergen, et cetera, for exploration and natural history.
Was first explorer of Kolguev in Barent’s Sea.

Career
Editor and proprietor of The Artist, 1897. Editor-in-Chief of Natural History in the Victoria History of the Counties of England, and Honourable Secretary, to Advisory Council, 1899. Zoologist.
