She studied Biochemistry at Street Catherine"s College, University of Oxford. She graduated Bachelor of Arts (Bachelor) in 1980.
The Venerable (of an Archdeacon) She then undertook post-graduate research at the University of East Anglia where she completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Doctor of Philosophy) degree in 1983 entitled "Streptomyces gene fusions involving the Escherichia coli B-glactosidase gene". Therefore, in 1988 she was made a deaconess, the only ministry then open to women. She was ordained deacon in 1992 and priest in 1994 (the first year women were ordained priests).
She was appointed Archdeacon of Bodmin in 2011.
