Metalworker by trade. 1904-1912 Menshevik; frequently arrested for revol activities. 1917-1918 chairman, Druzhkovka Soviet of Workers and Soldiers’ Deputy, Donbass.
1918-1919 political work in Red Army. From 1920 exec party, then trade-union work in Donbass. 1924-1925 secretary, Donetsk Province Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine.
1925-1928 chairman, All-Ukraine Trade-Union Council. Then executive government work in Vladimir and Ivanovo-Voznesensk. Deputy, chairman, Centr Union of Consumer Social.
December 1925—March 1928 Political Bureau member, Central Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine. Delegation at 11th and 12th Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Congresses. Delegation at 4th—8th Conferences and 9th—10th Congresses of Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine.
At 7th and 8th Conferences and 9th and 10th Congresses of Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine elected member, Central Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine. Arrested by State Security organs.
