Ouso, Augustin Chanassery was born on May 24, 1946 in Mala, Trichur, India. Son of Augusti Ouso Channassery and Mary Aprem Kurisinjal.


Bachelor of Science, University of Madras, Karaikudi, 1966. Master of Science, University Roorke, 1977. Doctor of Philosophy, Bharathidasan University, 1990.


Head, electropyrometallurgy division Central Electrochemical Research Institute, since 2002, scientist India, 1970—2005. Deputy director Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi, 2003—2005.


  • Achievements include research in 35 years of Research and Development in the Green and Bipolar technologies for Aluminium, Magnesium, Calcium, Titanium, rare earth borides etc. Patents for 8 Patents in India, United States of America, Norway for Innovations in Aluminium, Magnesium, calcium metallurgy. Development of eco-friendly technology for primary aluminium using stable non-carbon anodes.

    First to Bi-polar technolog for Magnesium. Single stage electrolytic process for high purity calcium metal.


Fellow: Society Advancement Electrochemical Science and Technology (life. President, local chapter 1998—2000). Member: Forum for Advancement of Science of Human Development (life), Computer Society of India (life), Indian Society for Technology Education (life), Indian Institute of Metals (life).
