Served in the Ambulance Corps in the War of the Pacific, 1881. Professor of general pathology and pathological anatomy in the School of Medicine of the University of Chile. Founder of the Museum and Library of the School of Medicine.
Of the Division of Bacteriology in the Institute of Hygiene, 1892. Subsequently director of the Institute. Delegate to the Congress of Americanists of Buenos Aires, 1909.
Physician of the San Vicente Hospital. Honorary director of the Museum of Ethnology and Anthropology and also of its Revista.
