Ayanosuke Takemoto was born in 1885 in Tottori, Japan. He was originally named Kame Ishii.
She began studying Gidayu reciting at the early age of 11 under Shinjiro Toyozawa, to make her stage debut at Osaka at the age of 15 under the name of Kingiku Takemoto. While there she continued learning from two other teachers: Ryiisuke Toyozawa and Komadayu, a blind Gidayu reciter. Her next appearance on the stage was at Tokyo at the age of 19.
When Ayanosuke Takemoto I retired from the stage, her samisen player arranged for her to succeed to the title to become Ayanosuke Takemoto II. He retired from the entertainment world at the age of 24 to get married, but returned when she was 48 after her husband died.
Meantime as Ayanosuke Takemoto I had returned to the business, she adopted the stage name of Kasho. With the death of Ayanosuke Takemoto I in 1942 she reverted back to the title. She and Motome Takemoto are among the senior women Gidayu reciters in east Japan.
