Amateur boxer 1967-1976. Lightweight; amateur light-welterweight championship 1974. Professional boxer April since 1976.
Won Commonwealth middleweight title May 1978 (first Ugandan to wrin a Commonwealth championship).
Defended it September 1978. Won World Boxing Association version of world lightmiddleweight title from Masashi Kudo, Akita, Japan October 1979.
Retained idle v. Steve Gregory" December 1979, Emiliano Villa April 1980, Marijan Benes June 1980 and Bushy Bester September 1980.
First Ugandan to win a world title. Won all 35 fights before losing to Sugar Ray Leonard 1981.
