Ustad Badar Miandad was born in 1962 in a noted family of qawwals in Pak Pattan. His father Ustad Miandad and grandfather Ustad Din Muhammad were reputed qawwals.

He released 200 albums in Pakistan. Several albums were also released under United Kingdom and Indian labels. Badar Miandad started his qawwali career in 1975, and by the mid 80s he had earned fame.
He composed the music for Bollywood films, including Virod, starring Salman Khan.
He also composed the music for several Pakistani films, including Chupkay Chupkay, Lahoria Ibraa Janat Ki Talash and But Shikan. His famous qawwalis include: Dam Dam Hussain Maula Hussain, Jashan-e-Aamad-e-Rasool, Tu Nahi Tay Tairiyan Yadan Sahi and Ganj Shakar Walian Da Raja.Husan Walo Khuda K Liy Chordo.

Working with producer/arranger/composer Suresh "Baba" Varma, Badar produced a best-selling qawwali fusion album, Good Karma 1. Badar Ali Khan died on 2 March 2007 in Lahore of a heart attack, after two years of heart trouble.
