Background
Baido Asano was born in 1816. Known also as Inkei. His family branched out from the Asanos, the Lords of Ako (Hyogo Prefecture). One of the direct retainers of the Shogunate.

Education
He studied painting under Suian Kurimoto and later under Chinzan Tsubaki.
Career
Good at painting flowers and birds, he was also an able art connoisseur. While serving in Kyoto, he took charge of Imperial Palace construction works.
