Career
A right-handed batsman, he scored 2982 runs at 28.13 in first class matches. The best of his four centuries, an unbeaten 116, came against the England tourists in 1988. He took 26 wickets with his off breaks, with his only five wicket haul, 5 for 40, coming against Otago.
Cooper scored 2009 runs in 80 list A one-day matches with one century, 102 against Otago, for an average of 27.51.
He took 34 one day wickets at 30.23 with a best of 3 for 12. He also appeared for North Island (1981/82), Derbyshire Second XI (1980–1981), Derbyshire Under-25s (1981), Minor Associations (1982/83), Auckland and Northern Districts (1985/86) and Sir Ron Brierley"s XI (1993/94).
Barry is now found supporting and coaching cricket in Whangarei.
