He is currently playing with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL). Following his graduation, Goers turned professional to join the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL for the final games and playoffs of their 2009-2010 ECHL season. In his third season with the Wranglers in 2011-2012, Goers helped Las Vegas reach the Kelly cup finals.
His successful season was noted with two stints in the American Hockey League, initially with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers before impressing in his latter spell with the Lake Erie Monsters to post 7 points in 19 games to remain until the end of the season.
Goers was then rewarded with a one-year AHL contract with the Monsters for the following 2012-2013 season. In a season affected by injury and indifferent form, Goers compiled 1 assist in 19 games for the Monsters.
Towards the end of the 2012-2013 season, Goers was reassigned to Central Hockey League affiliate, the Denver Cutthroats, for their inaugural playoff run. Despite being unable to contribute on the ice with Lake Erie, Goers was selected as the Monsters Manitoba of the Year, for his contributions and charity work in the Cleveland area.
On August 5, 2013, Goers was returned to the ECHL, signing a one-year deal as a free agent with the Wheeling Nailers.
