Education
He studied at Coopersdale School and Chandler School, followed by Garfield Junior High School. He later attended Johnstown Vocational Technical School, graduating in 1983. In 1984, he completed training at the Johnstown Regional Municipal Police Academy, and in 1985 he qualified as an Emergency Medical Technician through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Career
Barry Paul Rummel worked as an emergency medical technician with Pinkerton Security and Investigations, where he combined medical response duties with security-related responsibilities. He later served as an EMT in Pittsburgh, providing emergency medical care in an urban setting.
In addition to his medical work, he was involved as a crisis youth specialist at Covenant House, supporting vulnerable youth in crisis situations. Alongside his professional activities, he has served in religious and community roles, including as a Eucharistic minister serving Lee Campus and Atrium Manor, and as a Franciscan tertiary of the Immaculate.
