Barry J. Dichter is a retired American lawyer known for his contributions to the fields of bankruptcy law, corporate reorganization, and asset-backed finance. He practiced law in Massachusetts, New York, and the District of Columbia and held several professional and editorial positions throughout his career.

He served as a contributing editor to Collier on Bankruptcy, 15th Edition, Revised (1997), one of the leading legal treatises in the field. He was co-author of Chapter 3 in The Handbook of Asset-Backed Securities, edited by Jess Lederman (1990).
From 1984 to 1988, Dichter served as Vice Chairman of the Harvard Law School Fund.
