CCTV footage showed Hackney leaving the scene of the murders with a gun in his hand. He was added to the United States Marshals Service 15 most-wanted Fugitives on July 7, 2011. On September 2, 2012, a body was found seven miles from the resort where the murders took place.
Hackney"s wallet and glasses, as well as a.380 semi-automatic handgun, ammunition and a man"s watch, were found with the body.
deoxyribonucleic acid profiling confirmed it was Hackney. The bones had been scattered by animals and had likely been there for some time, possibly since the day of the murders.
Due to the state of the remains, the cause of death may never be determined.
