Beatrice Fontanel was a journalist at the Bayard-Presse in Paris, France from 1981 to 1988. She served as an editor at the Gallimard Jeunesse, a book publisher in Paris from 1990 to 1996. In 1996 Fontanel became a writer at the Herve de la Martiniere, a publisher.
