Haba received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Algiers in 1980. Three years later he earned his Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from Stanford University. In 1984, Belgacem was given a Master of Science degree in Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1988 from the same university.
Haba began his career as a postdoctoral research fellow at IBM Watson Research Center in 1988 and held it for two years, where he worked on the applications of lasers in microelectronics. In 1991, he took a position of an assistant manager of research at NEC Central Research Laboratories. From 1996 Belgacem was a vice president and senior fellow at Invensas Corporation. He led the Mobile R&D division, developing 3D technologies for mobiles and servers. Haba co-founded SiliconPipe Inc. in 2002. In addition, he has authored numerous technical publications, has also participated in many conferences worldwide. In 2013, Belgacem joined Google Data Center Platform as a senior staff.
Haba is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Japanese Society of Applied Physics, Engineering Foundation, International Microelectronics and Packaging Society.
On March 1, 1992 Belgacem Haba married Djamila Boudia. They have two children.
