Ordained Baptist ministry, 1894. Pastor Carlisle and Brinkley, 1895-1896, Argenta, Arkansas, 1894-1895, 1st Church, Little Rock, 1897-1913, Central Church, Memphis, 1913-1933. Appointed first probation officer of Federal Court, Memphis, October 5, 1925.

Superintendent Open Door Mission, Memphis. President Cox-Garrett Society of Memphis, Tennessee, and Dallas, Texas President Baptist Advance Public Company, Little Rock, for many years. Ex-president Board Baptist Schools and Colls., Arkansas.

Ex-president of the board of trustees Central Baptist College, Conway, Arkansas. Secretary board of trustees Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis. Member State Baptist Mission Board.

Trustee Union University, Jackson, Tennessee. Director Memphis Salv. Army, National No-Tobacco League.

Founder of Memphis Noon Prayer Meeting, January 19, 1914, held every week day since, without collection, members in every state, and many foreign countries. Superintendent Open Door Mission (formerly Noon Prayer Meeting), Memphis. Founder of Strand Bible Class, February, 1921.

City organizer Memphis Annual Bible Conference, 1920. Author of a book of verse, a booklet entitled An Army Young Men’s Christian Association Parson. Also pamphlets and published sermons.
