Graduate Middlebury College, 1854, Andover Theological Seminary, 1859. (Doctor of Divinity, Marietta and Middlebury, 1887). Ordained in Congressional ministry, 1860.
Missionary American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions to Persia from 1860. Father of Review Benjamin Woods Labaree, who was murdered by Kurds in Persia, March 9, 1904, whose death was the occasion of important diplomatic transactions between United States and Persia. Translated the Four Gospels into Azerbaijan Turkish.
