He received a public school education in Chicago, later went to Copenhagen, Denmark (the former home of his parents) to study Structural Engineering at the Royal Academy.
Mr. Winslow served on the Chicago Board of Education from 1899 to 1914, and from the latter year until his death was Chief Engineer of the City of Chicago Building Department.
Mr. Winslow returned to Chicago when he was twenty-one, and except for a brief period with the firm of Holabird & Roche, devoted his time to public service. He also published "Winslow Engineering Tables" and Slide Rules for calculating beams and reinforced concrete construction, together with other engineering formulas.
