Leghorn, Italy, 1913-1914, Fiume, Hungary, November 1914-July 1916, San Jose, Costa Rica, 1916 (in charge American interests, San Jose, Costa Rica, during revolutionary period, 1918-1920). Consul at Trondhjem, Norway, until closed consulate, November 1921, then consul at Messina, Italy.

Home on sick leave, 1923-1924.
