Career
Entered 2nd Royal Munster Fusiliers (then 104th Bengal Fusiliers) from the Militia, 1875. Served Burmese campaign 1886-1888, and South African War, 1900-1902 (despatches, Queen's medal, 2 clasps, King’s medal, 2 clasps, Companion of the Bath). Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel, 1900.
Commanding 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, 1900-1904.
Son of late Captain Hawes, 2nd Bengal Fusiliers.
