He played college football for the University of Idaho. He is of Nigerian descent. During his time, he played in 45 games at the University of Idaho, collected 67 tackles (47 solo), 11 sacks, 11 forced fumbles and had three fumble recoveries.
Seattle Seahawks
He was signed by the Seattle Seahawks in May 2013 as an undrafted free agent.
He played the first two games of the season. He was waived by the Seahawks on August 30, 2014 during final roster cuts.
Oakland Raiders
On August 31, 2014, he was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Raiders. On December 7, 2014, Mayowa recorded his first NFL sack against the San Francisco 49ers.
