Takikawa became a partner of a match factory in Kobe in 1880. Then he founded the Takikawa Match Company, which later became the Toyo Match Company (1927). By amalgamation he formed the Daido Match Company and became its director. In between his business career, he served as a director of the Kobe Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the House of Peers. He was also the founder of the Takikawa Middle School, Kobe.
