Career
Brown was born on February 23, 1815, in Canandaigua, New New York He died on February 8, 1900, in Anaconda, Montana and is buried at Lake View Cemetery in Seattle. In 1857, he was an unsuccessful candidate for the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin.
Brown was later President and Chairman of the Board of Regents of the University of Washington and was Mayor of Seattle from 1878 to 1879.
He died on February 8, 1900 in Anaconda, Montana.
