Career
She has been Vice President of the Liberal Party, President of the Norwegian Association for Women"s Rights (2004–2006) and President of Tekna. She served as personal secretary to the Minister of Consumer Affairs and Administration 1972–1973 and deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo during the term 1997–2001. Kvæven holds a doctorate in chemistry from Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet. She has worked as Chief Engineer at the Norwegian Climate and Pollution Agency, where she worked on international assignments, including as head of the United Nations monitoring program for acid rain.
