Went to India, 1881, and joined the indigo industry. One time manager and part proprietor of the Dalsingh Sarai Indigo Concern in Behar, Bengal. Started an agricultural research station on modern lines, 1899.
On the foundation of the Pusa Agricultural Research Institute and College, 1904, Mr. Coventry was made first Director and Principal. Director of the Agricultural Research Institute and Principal of the Agricultural College, Pusa, Bengal.
Spouse 1892, Ella Gordondaughter of E. Dalgliesh, of Brook, Witley, Surrey.
