Admitted to New York bar, 1901, and began practice in New York City. Assistant to attorney general of the United States, 1917-1922. Under leave of absence, visited Poland, 1919, to investigate outrages committed on Jews in that country and while there joined American Anti-Typhus Commission.
On return, contributed series of articles describing conditions in Poland.
Visited Russia, 1927, to study Jewish agricultural colonies. Purchased controlling interest, 1916, of America Hebrew Magazine, published by The American Hebrew Public Company of which is director, secretary and treasurer.
President, treasurer Cyclopedia Judaica, Incorporated. Director, secretary, treasurer Independent American Jewish Public Company Identified with motion pictures from 1921 and a leader in securing the uniform contract and the arbitration boards, serving as chairman Uniform Contract Committee and Arbitration Board Committee
