Bernard King

Background

Bernard King was born on May 4, 1946 in the United Kingdom. He is the son of Bernard and Cathleen King.

Education

King graduated from College of Technology in Dublin. He also received his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Aston in Birmingham in 1972 and 1975, respectively.

Career

King started his career as a research fellow at the University of Aston in Birmingham in 1972. Since 1976, he worked as a lecturer at the Dundee Institute of Technology of the University of Abertay, and in 3 years, he was promoted to the position of senior lecturer. In 1983, King became the head of Department of Molecular Life Sciences. He held that position for 8 years. During this time he also was a dean of Faculty of Science. In 1991 and 1992, King worked as an assistant principal at Robert Gordon Institute of Technology.

Achievements

• King is known as the author of novels and scientific and technical papers on biodeterioration and the preservation of wood.
